Nicole Harper was flying from Houston to Kansas City on United Airlines on April 10th when she needed to use the bathroom. Harper says she suffers from an overactive bladder and when she tried to use the bathroom the flight attendants told her she had to remain seated due to the seatbelt light being on. She thought she would be able to quickly use the bathroom with no problem but the attendants told her she could not use it while the seatbelt light was on.
Harper told them it was either use the bathroom or pee in a cup. She says the attendant then handed her a cup. Harper went pee in two cups and then was shamed when she had to carry the cups to the bathroom to empty them.
Representatives from Mesa Airlines who operated the flight say at no point did the flight attendant suggest she pee in a cup. They say they were on descent and instructed MS Harper to remain in her seat with the seat belt fastened per FAA regulations.
