Every person who has priced airline tickets knows a first class ticket will cost you a nice chunk of change. While on shorter flights the extra cost may not be worth it but if you will be making a long hall it can be the difference between a pleasant experience and a never ending nightmare. If you are going to splurge on first class tickets you want to choose an airline that will give you the best bang for your buck. So who has the best first class service? Here is the best of the best.

Singapore Airlines
While a younger airline, they have a reputation for excellent service and holds the record for the longest non-stop flight. In their Boeing 777, on select flights, there are just 8 seats in the first class cabin.

The hard-backed seats measure 35 inches across, and fold fully flat to create a natural sleeping position. Each passenger gets a 23” LCD television screen, a built-in laptop power supply, a USB port. and Phitek anti-noise headsets. The seats have an accompanying Ottoman and a vanity area where passengers can freshen up without having to leave their seats.

Salvatore Ferragamo provides the fragrances and toiletries, with women getting body lotion and hand cream while the men are provided with after-shave emulsion and a shaving kit. All passengers get Givenchy sleeper suits with suede lounge slippers as well.

Passengers are served first class meals which they may have anytime during the flight. Upon arrical at the airport passengers are greeted at the terminal by senior passenger-relations officers, who will escort them to the premium check-in lounge.

Cathay Pacific Airlines
The airlines is Asia’s most highly regarded airlines. The 36” wide, 81” long seats are fully adjustable and come with a massage function. Each seat has an Ottoman.

A 17” personal flat-screen television is provided for each passenger as well as a built-in laptop power supply, and extendable table top. A personal closet stocked with amenities such as toiletries, sleeper suit, a shoe bag, a mattress, a pillow, and a duvet is part of the First Class experience.

Virgin Atlantic Airlines
The seats are tapered with a width of 22” that increase to 33” when converted into a full flat bed and are 79 – 82” long. On some planes the seat layout is 1-2-1 and on others its 1-1-1.

Each seat has its own 10.4” multi-directional television screen with video-on-demand and comes with power leads for Apple iPods as well as a laptop power supply.

Personal amenities include a snooze pack containing socks, eyeshades, earplugs, toothpaste, moisturizer, razors, sewing kits, collar stiffeners, and more. And if you want to really be pampered, there is an in-flight beauty therapy service available on flights to and from Heathrow.

Passengers will enjoy a “freedom Menu” with individually prepared meal orders that can be eaten at anytime or should they choose, can have their meals in the first class lounge prior to the flight departure. The First Class cabin also has a sit-down bar on selected flights.

Selected destinations have a complimentary chauffeur service provided for airport transfers. Drive-through check-in is available at Heathrow, Gatwick, and Johannesburg airports.

British Airways
The seats are 20” wide long and transform into 78” fully flat beds. Each seat has a “buddy seat” so travel partners can temporarily sit and chat.

Each seat has a on-demand entertainment system. Guests receive a pair of luxury velvet slippers and optional Turndown Service on selected flights, as well as a sleeper suit. Anya Hindmarch washbags with select personal products are provided.

Passengers can opt for a pre-flight meal. For those dining onboard, meals are made to order. If flying from London, a selection of wild fish – the Catch of the Day – is available to complement the selection of wine and champagne on board.

Qatar Airlines
Qatar Airways is one of just four international airlines with “five-star” service and facilities, as voted by Skytrax, the airline quality monitor.

The seats convert into fully flat beds and come with in-seat audio and video-on-demand entertainment in multiple languages. A laptop power supply is provided along with a personal telephone for each passenger.

Passengers receive a feather duvet, slippers, pajamas, and an overnight personal products kit. On the newer Airbus A340-600 planes there is a first class lounge onboard.

Meals are up to 10 courses and include luxury items such as caviar and lobster.
